As a Massachusetts‑based company, you are eligible to participate in the Mass Life Sciences Center (MLSC) Internship Challenge, a program that connects companies to students and hire interns while receiving reimbursement for their wages.

What we need from everyone:

• Put away all chemicals and solvents in their designated storage locations regularly.

• Do not leave any solvent bottles on or near sinks.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while the freezer reached its target temperature. Good news—after about 2.5 days, the freezer has successfully returned to -80°C.

According to tech support, the issue may have been caused by a clogged or frozen pipe, and they’ve recommended performing a defrost. We are currently preparing the backup freezer to support this process. Once it is ready, we’ll share the scheduled defrost date with everyone.

Biotech on the Move - Making Growth Out of An Incubator & Beyond

Please join North Shore Technology Council at 100 Cummings Center on Thursday, July 20 at 5:00 PM for a panel discussion followed by networking at an outdoor beer garden. Cummings' chief design office Jim Trudeau along with RAN Biotechnologies founder and CEO Roger Nassar, Ph.D., and InnoVenture Labs' president and CEO Chris Ilsley will share their perspectives on expanding out of an incubator. Moderated by Robin Dorogusker of Venture Forward Lab Partners, the conversation will be followed by networking, food, and craft beers. InnoVenture Labs will also offer tours of its incubator space.

We were informed at 5:30pm today that the shared -80 freezer was at high temperature at -47C. Current temperature is at -45C. This was due to freezer door left opened for a period of time.

We are keeping watch of the freezer throughout the night. As a back up , the spare freezer has been plugged.

In the meantime, to allow freezer to reach temperature, please DO NOT open the freezer door.

• General Office & Lab Waste / Dumpster Use

  We have been notified by our landlord and waste management company that our dumpster has been overflowing frequently. As a result, the waste management company may refuse to collect and empty it.

  
  

  Please follow these guidelines to help prevent overflow:

  
  

  • All boxes must be broken down and flattened before being placed in the dumpster.

  • Each company is responsible for breaking down and disposing of its own boxes.

  
  

We now have two Plate Readers inside the lab - Biotek Synergy 2 and HTX, both located inside lab 4, the equipment lab next to the -20 freezer.

Neither instrument requires a password, so you’re welcome to use them at your convenience. If you experience any issues with access, please reach out to our team for assistance.

This morning at 7:12am there was a power failure in the lab at 299 Washington St. However it has been restored immediately.

We kindly ask that conference rooms not be used for daily lunch breaks and that all meals be enjoyed in the designated break area instead.

Using conference rooms for eating has led to an overflow of trash and food residue, which can attract unwanted pests and impact the cleanliness and availability of these shared meeting spaces.

Exception: Conference rooms may be used for scheduled events or team lunch meetings. If you are planning to host one of these, please inform our team in advance so we can prepare and ensure proper trash management after the event or meeting.

We would like to inform you that the service contract for the Revvity Victor Nivo Multimode Plate Reader, sponsored by Revvity Health, has come to an end. As a result, this plate reader will no longer be available for use effective April 7, 2026.

Please note that an alternative plate reader, the BioTek Synergy 2, is available for use onsite and is located on the opposite side of the bench.

Effective Immediately March 2026: Lab Sink Wastewater Disposal Policy

To ensure MWRA compliance and maintain a safe laboratory environment, we are reinforcing proper wastewater disposal procedures at all lab sinks.

Please DO NOT dispose of any chemicals or solvents into the sinks—this includes 70% ethanol, alcohols, or any other chemical solutions. Only typical 10% bleached cell media waste may be disposed of in the designated sinks. Please look for posted signage indicating whether bleach disposal is allowed. Sinks that are strictly bleach‑free, and are clearly labeled as such.

Glassware Cleaning Requirements

All dirty glassware must be free of chemical residues before being washed in the sink.

I am onsite since 9pm responding to a power outage that lasted about 1 minute. The power has been partially restored. The main -80 and cold storage seems to be running and incubators are running.

Due to the partially restored power, some lights and outlets are not working including the internet. Eversouce and Cummings Properties are made aware of the issue and they are working on resolving the issues within the next 2 hours by Eversource and in the morning by Cummings Properties.

The neutralization tanks in lab 1 (2 sinks) and 2 (1 sink) are scheduled to be serviced on Wednesday, Dec. 31st at 8 am. The sinks will not be available for use during the maintenance period.
